Jeff Richling is the Thin Films Coating Manager at LightPath Technologies (NASDAQ: LPTH), a worldwide leader in infrared optics and precision glass molding. Mr. Richlings career in thin films started in 1999 when he lead the gain and nonlinear crystals groups in the thin film coating lab at VLOC, subsidiary of II-VI for nearly a decade. These groups focused on novel thin films designs with emphasis on laser induced damage threshold improvement. In 2009 Mr. Richling transitioned to the role Thin Film Research Engineer at TwinStar Optics, Lasers and Crystals where he led the coating department until 2018 when he joined LightPath.
With the approach of the International Year of Light in 2015, at the behest of many of his industry colleagues, Mr. Richling was asked to assemble a document to summarize his experience and knowledge for the next generation of thin film professionals, this became “Scratching the Surface – an Introduction to Photonics”
Mr. Richling is a graduate of St. Petersburg College and holds numerous certifications in topics ranging from thin film coating to substrate cleaning and thin film design, and is a sought after subject matter expert in film and filter design.
